Maybe, it is time. The girls have been exercising in this dark&cold&pressurized environment for 3+ minutes - without air. With still a long way back out of the wreck and up to the surface, they must have been ready to disengage when you three got out of the mess hall.

But rather than giving them a cue to resurface, you point downward - not up. Aya and Chihaya watch in disbelief, with Aya letting out a new stream of air and Chihaya puffing out her cheeks to fight the urge to breathe.
